Free the Heel, Free the Mind....

Telemark stems from the earliest form of skiing and is characterised by the Telemark turn. The style is graceful, flexible and, at times, a considerable physical challenge! The 2015 Army Telemark Ski Association (ATSA) Championships (Ex TELEMARK TITAN) ran from 10-22 January 2015 in Rauris, Austria. Competitors arrived on 10 January 2015, conducted training from 11-15 January 2015 and, dependent on ability, raced 16-21 January. It was great to see all three services there, and for myself a great first-impression of this sport. The Royal Monmouthshire (M) Royal Engineers had eight personnel travel over, with many bringing medals back. We were just part of the larger Sapper Team, who also did well, especially on the gruelling Mountain Race. Roll on 2016...
