Ex Eagle Hike - 3RHA supported by R Mons (M) RE...

After a night in a restaurant, maybe a bit too much rose and melting on a plastic mattress it was time to hit the road again early doors for the second phase of the GR20. There was a positive buzz around the group, with the confidence that in some ways the hardest days were behind us and that the mission was achievable after previous years' failing to get whole teams to the finish. It was by no means over though, and the unrelenting heat, rocky ridges and beating sun were still against us. The end did come though, and after one hundred and eighty kilometres, around eleven thousand metres of ascent and eleven days came the sweet taste of success...
A Long Horn Beetle - one of the locals...
Mountains to meadows...
Early start...
Life on the edge...
Taking stock...
Our zany Lithuanian friend...
Six in the morning and it's another sunny one...
On the chain gang...
Breakfast with a view...
Giving water to some very desperate Germans...
Southern end of the GR20...
The taste of success...
Cheers boys!
