Lochs, Glens and a couple of Bens...

Preparing for take-off...

My final piece of work in the Highlands this year was, in my view, one of the best. Challenging conditions on the loch, cold and snow on the the tops, but great views and no midges! All four teams had the mission of travelling in by canoe, journeying for two days over the mountains and then leaving by canoe. Loch Ericht is a twenty-three kilometre piece of water surrounded by some of Scotlands' highest - and most stunning - mountains. Two of which - the Munros Ben Alder and Ben Bheol - were summited by all. All four teams would be experiencing both of these environments during there four-day expedition. Success pivoted around wind direction and speed...

Into the wild...
The calm before the storm...
Lining the boats up-wind...
Brew time...
Heading to camp two...
Making plans...
Steep descent...
Looking across to Loch Ericht...
The final evening for two of the teams...
The wind in their sails - at last...
Homeward bound...
Back on dry land...
